I was at Canaanland, NZX Square last night. I told myself not to buy anything from there as their anniversary sale is on, but I still end up buying a CD. When I was browsing through the CDs section, what was playing caught my attention. I went to check out what CD they were playing, sounded like a Christmas album, I thought since I am preparing for Christmas Day's song maybe can get some idea. To my surprise, it's actually not a Christmas CD but a collection of Hymns by this guy call Aaron Minick. I have not heard of him before, but the style of music is something that I like so I've decided to buy it.
The Album Cover
When I reached home, I immediately put the CD in my laptop and rip it in my computer so I can listen to them at work or something.
I have been listening to it and I am glad I bought it, though kind of risky. I highly recommend if you like Ballad, Swing & Jazz or Harry Connick Jr.

Last Saturday evening, a few of us went to see 'Two from Galilee' by The Canticle Singers. This musical was being shown at Panggung Bandaraya, KL. We were not told much about what the musical is about and wanted to see more of The Canticle Singers. I was anticipating this as we actually bought the tickets way ahead of time, and October seems so far away then. The play starts at 8.30pm and we reached there about 8.00pm.
Entrance to Panggung Bandaraya
Welcome to Panggung Bandaraya
The ticket
The stage
The nice ceiling
I couldn't take any photos during the play as they do not allow any photography by non 'official' photographers.
Did I enjoy the play? I can say it was alright, maybe my expectation was way too high. No doubt the singing were good!
Another photo before I end....

I have been going for brisk walking at Bukit Jalil Park lately, why do I go all the way there when I stay in Subang? I like the surrounding there, and also spending some time with my friends while exercising.
One of my friend has been telling me that she spotted a family of wild boar at the park, but we've been there a few times but was unable to spot them. Finally on Sunday, we 'met' them. They were looking for food I think, wondering around, some of the passerby gave them some bread. The bread disappeared instantly, I guess there is not much food to be found in the park. From our 'analysis', I think there is 1 papa pig, 1 mama pig, 2 kiddy pigs that was born the first round and 4 other kiddy pigs why do I say that? See for yourself..
Can you tell the difference?
Still wondering around
See the difference in sizes?
Hello there, nice to meet you..
Don't know if we will meet 'them' again or not, all the best to them living in this place!
ps: Thank you CF for taking this nice pictures!

It was part of the task to be completed during our recent YA Amazing Adventure, what is Amazing Adventure... something like Amazing Race. One of the team from my care group (there were 2 teams that participated) won the consolation price of 255 arrows to play at Star Archery, Sunway Pyramid. We are to share with another care group since there are so many arrows to go around. Last Saturday, we finally managed to use the voucher. I always wonder how it felt like shooting an arrow, I didn't play in the Amazing Adventure as I was part of the organising committee. I was quite excited when we got this voucher.
There are gears that one need to put on before one play. Finger glove and a hand protective piece, the leather finger glove is to protect you so that you won't hurt your finger while pulling or releasing the bow, and the hand piece is to protect your flesh so that the skin won't come off when the arrow is released. Sounds like a dangerous sport!
There were 8 of us who went, 7 started playing first since the 8th person was late. Before we start, the workers there gave us a brief instruction on how to play and off we went. It was pretty exciting in the beginning but later part its kind of tiring as we use quite a fair bit of energy in pulling the bow and aiming at the target. All in all, it was a good experience.
The lanes were clear, as we went there first thing they open.
That's me trying to shoot the target, but not easy to hit the bull's eye!
All in a roll
For some reason, my arrows all went 'diving' on the ground
This is my score, I have 2 bull's eye!
We all had a fun time, we proceed for coffee there after. I will probably not go again as it's really not my cup of tea.

This restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember, how do I know about this restaurant? I stay in SS19! One will not be able to find this restaurant if not by recommendation because it is located in the midst of housing area, no frontage, no busy road, nothing 'significant' around. My family goes there quite often as the food is good and price is reasonable. I heard that the chef is from Taiping, and the restaurant is run by him and the wife. One of the relative runs a hair saloon next door, and we see her helping around whenever she is free.
The famous dishes there are of course the claypot Curry Fish Head, they also have salted herbal chicken and some many other yummy dishes!
Restaurant frontage
They used to be a few shop down, recently they moved to this place and air-condition the place giving their customer a more comfortable environment to dine.
The clay pot fish curry (瓦煲咖喱鱼)
Their curry is very different, taste a bit sourish as compared to the others. I normally order fish meat as I don't really know how to tackle the head, and I find that there are more meat in fish meat....
Nam Yu Pork (南乳炸肉)
Pot Tau Fu (煲仔豆腐)
I took my friends there last Saturday, they enjoyed the food which I am glad.
If you plan to visit the place during weekends, please make reservation or be before 7pm and if you want to try the salted chicken it's best that you pre-book them too as it might run out of stock!

Snowflakes has become one of my favourite joint a few months ago, this shop basically sells Taiwanese dessert. I go there at least once a month, that is consider a lot, that's what my friends tell me. My favourite order is their Best Seller, it is ice shaving+glass jelly+taro ball.
The Best Seller
Aiyu Jelly (爱玉冰)
6 of us had 2 best seller serve with cream, 1 Aiyu Jelly & 1 Soya Series
The 'Beeping UFO'
Aiyu Jelly (爱玉冰)
6 of us had 2 best seller serve with cream, 1 Aiyu Jelly & 1 Soya Series
The soya series dessert is really unique. The ice is actually made out of soya bean juice, then shave to ice shaving. There are basically 3 series, Soya Series, Grass Jelly Series and Taro Ball series. With these series you get to choose about 5 different combination of toppings, some of the toppings are like taro, barley, red beans, bubbles (those in bubble tea), peanuts, black glutinous rice, these is what I can remember.
The 'Beeping UFO'
What is the 'Beeping UFO' for? Snowflakes is a self service place, this beeping UFO is what they use to inform the customers that their orders are ready. The UFO will vibrate and blink when orders are ready to be collected from the counter.
This place also sell Tau Fu Fa with different kinds of toppings, smoothies, bubble tea, yau char kuai, soya bean, and Hiong Peng. This please is really crowded after 8.30pm, if you wanna visit this place, I recommend that you go either in the afternoon or before 8.30pm.
Here is the address:
No.61A, First Floor,
Jalan SS15/8A,
47500 Subang Jaya
Operating Hours 1-11p.m
It's located directly opposite the Asia Cafe at SS15, surrounded by all the colleges.

My mom is Hakka ngin. My grandparents are both Hakka, my grandfather only speaks Hakka. I grown up at my grandparent's, there is where I learn my Hakka dialect and food from.
Most of the time, I learn cooking through observations, tries & errors and of course from recipes.
One day, I was chatting with an old friend from Penang, he told me he and his family will be in town over the weekend. I invited them over for dinner to meet up, as we have not see each other for a long time and he always says he missed my cooking. His wife is a friend from my childhood and also my housemate in uni days. Studying abroad, we always cook stuff and eat together. I was asking them what they want to eat, they can't really decide and I can't decide either. At the end, I decided to cook Yong Tau Fu.
Here are the ingredients:-
Here are the ingredients:-
Minced pork 1kg
Fish paste 500g
Salted fish
Garlic
Seasoning - soy sauce, pepper
Fish paste portion is always half of minced meat. Mixed everything together and stuff the filling to the things that you want to eat. Like tofu, brinjal, bitter gourd, green chili and etc. Once ready, pan fry each of them to cook then add sauce to each of them. For the sauce, I just cook them with soy sauce and oyster sauce with a bit of pepper. The Yong To Fu soup is cooked with soy bean, first fry the tofu to golden brown then put in soup to cook with soy bean.
Here is what I did.
The tofu
brinjal and bitter gourd
Here's the food presentation. I also made Yong Egg with Kwong Sai influence (I am a Kwong Sai). We sometimes eat Yong To Fu wrapped with Chinese lettuce. The white stuff is actually spring roll wrap in chee cheong fun skin, leftover from the previous day's party.
One for the record.. cheers!
I was a bit worried if we can finish all the food, wa lah.. all cleaned up!
Cooking yong to fu seems simple but it's a lot of work, as u need to stuff the meat into each of the tofu or brinjal or whatever you decides that you want to eat. For me, all this is worth it when I see my friends enjoy my cooking and finish all of them!
I don't know when I will cook yong to fu again, definitely not this year, maybe next, maybe not...

On Sunday, we had our October birthday luncheon for my 'care bears'. There is only 1 person who's birthday falls in October, most of the other care bears coincidently their birthdays falls either in February or June then the rest is end of the year. No one gave any suggestion to where to go for lunch when I asked them, so I suggested this restaurant that one of the care bear took me in March which i think they serves nice food and price is reasonable. This place is unique as they serves Hokkien food. I have actually been there for a few times with some other friends since my care bear introduce the place to me. The restaurant is located at a back street building behind the main road of Sg. Way, if it's not recommended by someone I don't think one can find out about this restaurant. Here is what we ate..
Village Style Tofu (家乡豆腐)
Can't remember what's the name of this dish, all the crispy veg
Crispy brinjal (香酥茄子)
Salted-egg chicken (咸蛋鸡)
Curry tom yam fish
Pork with alkaline kuih (封肉碱水糕)
Clay pot Buttermilk prawn (瓦煲奶油虾)
birthday boy blowing candle (I almost forgot about the cake!)
My fellow care bears!
Lunch was really good, didn't managed to snap any photos of empty plates, basically we ate everything that's on the plate! The bill came up to about RM200, which I think its quite reasonable for 11 people with 7 dishes that has fish and prawns too.
Not to mention, we had a good time chit chatting, catching up with each other and also taking some nonsense!
Here is the details to the restaurant:

CAREmart is another community project by FGT.With the rising cost of living, there are families who are struggling to make ends meet.
Our God is a God of ABUNDANCE. He supplies our every need. So we want to help those in need by allowing them to purchase essential goods at a subsidized cost at CAREmart.
The aim is to help reduce their food bill by 30%. So if they were paying $300 a month; now they pay only $210. Members and the public who are not eligible will purchase goods at market prices. Allevenue from CAREmart will be put in as the subsidies for the needy.
What are essential goods? These are things we cannot do without such as rice, sugar, salt, flour, washing detergent etc.
CAREmart operates at 15, Jalan Tiara 2, Taman Perindustrian UEP, Subang Jaya, 47600.Operating hours are from Monday – Saturday: 8am – 6pm. But on Fridays, we are open till 8PM. And on Sundays, we open from 12:30pm – 6pm. You can also order in advance and pick up at the shop. We are contactable at: 03-8024-3501.
How can you be involved? It’s easy…instead of buying your monthly groceries at Tesco, Giant, Carrefour or your favourite mini market, buy ALL your groceries from CAREmart!
We also have gift vouchers in denominations of $20 and $50. If you want to bless someone with a practical gift, you can purchase these vouchers at CAREmart.
On 11 October 2009, there was a special event organised by Hannah Yeoh, DAP/MPSJ ADUN held at CAREmart. They have chosen about 50 single mothers around Subang Jaya to receive cash vouchers by CAREmart. At that afternoon, 2 MPSJ buses chauffeured the 50 single mothers to CAREmart to receive the vouchers and at the same time doing their shopping while there are there.
Look from a far..

It is always a blessing to help those who needs help regardless of their skin colours or religion.

There are so many people around me that blogs. It seems like the trend for today's generation, there are about more than 50% of people around me that has a blog, whether active or not.
Why do I blog? I used to blog about 2 years ago, but since then I have not written anything. A friend of mine just told me yesterday that she started a food blog, encouraged by her sister since she always takes photos of food & places she goes to. So, I figured maybe I should start one myself since I love food, likes travel and love cooking! This will also serves as a diary for me, to track down the stuff that I did, food that I have eaten and many more..
With this I begin my blogging journey again...
