Snowflakes Dessert 雪花栈 , SS15, Subang Jaya (Revisited)


Aunt and cousins came for a visit over the long weekend last week, he heard about Snowflakes and has asked me to take him there while they are around. We went on Sunday, before dinner to avoid the crowd after dinner time!

They have new menu, some new additions to the menu like the Hot Best Seller and Sea Amber Jelly. Since they are new, we ordered to try them.

I find this to be okay only, the ice is not as fine as the other ice. 

Hot best seller.. we didn't know what to expect from this but it turn out to be good. The grass jelly soup with peanuts, taro balls & pearls. All are my favourite!

Soya ice series set 4, Set 4 comes with red beans, Taro and pearls, I added the taro balls cause that's my favourite. The ice is shaved from soya bean milk ice, which gave the combination a nice taste. 

My cousins and kids loved the desserts, I am glad they enjoyed it. 

Snowflakes has a customer royalty card where they will give you a stamp for every RM5 you spend, once you spend up to RM50 you will get a bowl of dessert for free! I am now using my 3rd card already, you can imagine how frequent I go there.. :P 


My advice again, that the best time to go is in the afternoon and don't go after 8.30pm the place will be packed with people and you won't get to enjoy your dessert as people will be standing next to you waiting for your table! I hope they will open another branch soon.. SNOWFLAKES!

Sunrise @ Broga Hill, Semenyih


It was a crazy idea to have suggested hiking and watching sunrise at Broga Hill. Why a crazy idea? That's because we need to gather at 4.30am, and leave  for Semenyih to reach there by 5.30am. It takes about 45 minutes from where we are to reach Semenyih, in case you are wondering where Semenyih is, it's at the border of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. The hiking takes about 30-45 minutes depending on your ability.

We reached there about 5.45am, and goodness, there are already about 50-70 cars parked a long the road side. There were 21 of us who went, once we've parked, did a head count and up we went. It was pitch dark as we walk through the oil palm plantations before reaching to the trail to go up the hill. There were many people around hiking with torch lights, so we were not so worried as non has been to Broga before. The initial 15 minutes hike is quite easy but the last 15 minutes hike was the killer. The trail was steep, and there are no proper steps to walk on.

When I was hiking, I saw lights blinking from the torch light along the trail of people hiking. It was a beautiful sight, like firefly blinking away. The whole forest came to life, with people chatting, complaining, talking on the phone to make sure their mates who are left behind are doing okay. 

We reached the first top at about 6.15am, and the sky is beginning to brighten up. There were already many people there, some resting, some were busy posing and taking photos. Some serious photographers also set up their tripod to catch the sunrise. Here are some of the photos my friend and I took.

Here is to tell you how 'difficult' the trail is..

Breakfast is of course the next agenda after a strenuous hike! We went to a place where some bloggers has suggested, they sell Koh Loh mee, laksa and BBQ chicken wings.  The place is call Yap Choon Kwai Koh Loh Mee (located opposite Sin Ming Chinese School along Jalan Besar). There were already many people when we reach there, had to sit at the store next door as there were many of us. 
We took a packet of nasi lemak to ease our hunger while waiting for the boss to take orders from us. 
This tasted good, I think we were all really hungry!

We didn't get to try the chicken wings as they only have it on Sundays. 

I think everyone had fun, though some did 'grumble' a bit but I had fun. Thank God also for the great weather, if it rains again we had to cancel our trip there. 

Will I go back there again, hmm....... definitely! 

Makan Trip To Ipoh Part 2

After our dim sum, we went to Sin Yoon Long for Ipoh famous white coffee.Some how the coffee in Ipoh taste differently compared to KL.

After coffee, we went to visit a friend of mine. Catch up with him for a while and he took us for my pork satay & egg custard.

It was quite sad that we didn't get to eat the egg custard as it was all sold out! To ease or pain, we went for the drive trough tau fu fa place for our tau fu fa.

Then we proceed to buy the salted chicken on our way back home
We decided to drop by Bidor, for the famous Herbal duck noodle soup
We just had the soup without noodles. Look at the bowl, really black!
The Yam Ball (wu gok, 芋角) is also famous here but I find it to be so so only. 
We bought some chicken biscuit to give some friends, then proceed our journey back home. 

It was really a fruitful trip, will definitely do this again! Thank you to 2 of my friends who went with me, a birthday that I won't forget! 

Makan Trip To Ipoh Part I


We left Subang about 7am, to go to Ipoh for breakfast. I was really excited as it's the first time I took leave on my birthday and do something out of the ordinary. We reached Ipoh about 9am, and went straight to Foh San for dim sum. To our surprise, even though is a Monday, the place was packed with people! We had to stand and wait for tables. We waited about 10 minutes, which was not too bad. 

1) Siu Mai (烧麦)

3) Har Gao (虾饺)

This is my friend's favourite, I think we ordered 3 plates of this!

This was good, a lot of fillings.. 
9) Walnut Wrap (核桃卷)
This is really good! I think the skin is crepe, wrapped with cucumber, meat floss and walnut. Something new and the combination tasted good. A must try!

10) Steamed Pork Ribs (蒸排骨)

11) Lao Sar Pao (流沙包) 
This is the first time i see and tried something like this. The filling is made of salted egg yoke, tasted really good and the fact that the filling ooze out when the pao got cut open.
