We had a port luck party one Saturday, and my friend and I were cracking our heads what to bring for the dinner. Then we decided to cook Hakka fried pork since my friend love meat and this dish is very easy to prepare.
Ingredients:
1kg Pork belly
4 pcs Fermented taufu (Nam Yu)
1 tbs Five spiced powder
1 tbs Soya sauce
1 tbs Oyster sauce
1 egg
5 tbs of flour
1) Cut pork belly into cubes
2) Pour in all marinate ingredient and mix well together
3) Marinate it for at least 1 hour, the longer, the better.
4) Before frying, add in egg and flour, mix well
5) Fry until golden brown and serve.
Yumm.. turned out to be great.
For the leftover you can add some black fungus and water, cook for about 1 hour. Add in some more fermented taufu and soya sauce to taste.

The interior, we sat at the tatami side
Korean food has become a hit all of a sudden, my guess is due to all the Korean drama that's airing on TV. I first tried Korean food while I was studying in the US, as its quite costly for me as a student so I don't eat them frequently. I was fascinated with all the side dishes that are served before the main dishes come, and fell in love with Kimchi since then on.
Daorea Korean BBQ Restaurant is located in Taipan, a joint that we often go to especially when my dad's Japanese friend come to visit (he loves Korean BBQ for some reason)
The funny thing on top acts like a chimney, for the smoke to be released. The bottom part is to put the hot and red charcoal.
For the BBQ, you have to order at least 2 orders of meat. For the cooked food is up to you. We usually order the Bibimbab (hot stone bowl rice) and Jab Chae (Korean fried glass noodle), we figured we should try something else.
Kim Chi Noodle, nice, it's like a salad noodle
We also ordered a bulgogi soup with rice, but I forgot to take photo of that :P That basically tasted like beef suki-yaki with some Korean touch.
Some of the side dishes served
Chinese lettuce to wrap the BBQ meat
BBQing the beef and some garlic
This is how it's supposed to be eaten
Steamed egg, also complimentary by the restaurant
Bean paste sauce on the left and sesame seed oil with salt on the right
Spring onion salad, my favouriteBBQing the beef and some garlic
This is how it's supposed to be eaten
BBQ Lamb
Korean Pan cake, complimentary from the restuarantSteamed egg, also complimentary by the restaurant

I took a few days off in December to go back to hometown in conjunction to the long weekend and my grandmother's 83 birthday dinner. I've invited a friend of my to follow me since she's on a long break and wanted to relax by doing nothing.
It was indeed a great break, just relaxing, and going around eating!
We went to Skudai one of the day to meet one of my auntie and cousins who stay there for breakfast then ended up shopping at the newly open Jusco, Bukit Indah. The layout of the place is quite nice, but not many shops to shop in. As we were leaving the place, I saw Christmas decoration made of eggs carton to promote recycling which I thought it was cool and creative.
My grandma's birthday celebration was done buffet style, easier for everyone, don't have to be seated or wait for everyone in order to eat. The food was catered by our restaurant Yat Siong Teng, we had our buffet party upstairs.
Food being served:
This is my favourite, fried pumpkin chips coated with salted egg!
Grandma's signature dish, Hakka Fried Pork
On the left is my little niece, but my right are my young cousins!
Needless to say, my grandma was very happy. His brother came to visit him, and many other relatives that have not seen (some I don't even know who they are) also came to visit her. Happy Birthday Po Po..
My Aunt invited us over for lunch on Sunday, yea.. eating again. She is my dad's eldest sis who is a great cook, and my other aunt who is also a great cook is my mom's eldest sis. I guess being the eldest, u need to be a good cook?
We had a simple yet delicious lunch. She cooked white radish soup, roast pork, yong tau fu, yong dan (egg), and veg.
drools..
how the filling is wrap in the egg, takes time to do..
I also visited our branch church in JB for their Sunday's evening service. There to check out the premise and visit my friend there. I used my cousin's GPS to get there as I am not familiar with the place. The service was quite small, and is the first time I hear my friend preach.
My friend enjoyed herself very much, and made some new friends too (my niece and nephew!) I miss my hometown after writing about it. No fear! I will be back during CNY! :)

Finally got a chance to blog.
Have not been updating my blog late due to the busy schedule and of course some laziness too. :P
A few of my friends were discussing why so many of our friends' birthday in December, it's quite a 'burden' to us as we need to buy them dinners and birthday presents.. ehehe.. there were no answers to our curiosity.
Birthday Celebration Number 1
We went to Sek Yuen, Jalan Pudu for dinner before we cut the yummiliciuos durian cheese cake at a friend's place.
Birthday Celebration Number 2
Celebrated one of the carebear's birthday. We cooked carbonara and baked chicken. I made banana crumble as birthday cake. :)
Birthday Celebration Number 3
Another birthday celebration, we had dinner in one of the restaurant in SS2 then proceed to a friend's house for cake cutting. We had nice double chocolate cake.
Birthday Celebration Number 4
Last one for the year, I didn't manage to snap a group photo as I was being a busy host. This is a shot for our gift exchange. We had BBQ at my place. :)
Such a happening month it has indeed been... December oh December...
